Rep. Nancy Mace has issued a statement following the conviction of Jose Ibarra, who was found guilty of murdering Laken Riley. The crime involved dragging Riley into a secluded area and fatally beating her with a rock. Mace emphasized the need for Congress to take further action to secure borders and ensure the safety of American citizens.
"This guilty verdict brings some justice, but Congress must do more to secure our borders and protect American citizens," said Rep. Mace. She urged legislative support for H.R. 7909 in response to the incident.
Ibarra, described as a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela, faced charges related to the attack on Riley. The case has drawn attention to issues surrounding border security and immigration policies.
