Deputy Chief Scott Perry has successfully completed the Policing Leadership Academy (PLA), an intensive leadership management education program. The academy, hosted by the University of Chicago Crime Lab, focuses on preventing violent crime, supporting officers, reducing gun violence, and enhancing the effectiveness and fairness of policing.

The PLA stands out as the only police management leadership program in the United States specifically aimed at increasing safety in some of the country's most violent neighborhoods. Deputy Chief Perry was among 36 police leaders from across the nation who underwent a demanding five-month course centered on data-driven management, violence reduction strategies, and fostering community trust.

"We are excited to see the ideas that Deputy Chief Perry learned will be implemented in our community," stated a representative from his agency. "Great job sir!"
