A federal court has halted President Biden's proposed amendments to Title IX, which aimed to broaden the definition of sex to encompass gender identity across the United States. The decision was announced on Thursday and has sparked various reactions.
Rep. Nancy Mace expressed her approval of the court's ruling. In a statement, she said, “Title IX was created to protect the rights of women and girls, not to let men invade their spaces and steal their victories. The Biden administration’s twisted version of Title IX is an insult to fairness, and it’s a blatant attempt to erase women from sports and classrooms."
She also commended Judge Danny C. Reeves for his decision, stating: "Thank you to Judge Danny C. Reeves for having the backbone to block this outrageous power grab, standing up for the privacy, safety, and dignity of women and girls. This decision is a win for common sense.”
The ruling has put a temporary stop to changes that would have affected how gender identity is treated under Title IX protections.
