Cost of college went up for all students at Trident Technical College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.6 percent for 2018-19 at Trident Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Carolina residents paid $5,033 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $173 more than the $4,860 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 68.6 percent more than residents this year, or $8,484. Their price tag grew 3.6 percent from $8,188 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are South Carolina residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,291 students received grants or scholarships totaling $7.8 million and 488 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (12,148), 9,817 students used grants or scholarships totaling $50.5 million, and 3,014 students took out $16.5 million in federal student loans.
