Charleston Battery soccer club's Oct. 10 win over Hartford Athletic was no easy feat, Head Coach Michael Anhaeuser said shortly after the 4-3 game.
Charleston scored its victory in a good game against the team from Connecticut before a record crowd at Patriots Point, Anhaeuser said in a match recap posted to the Battery's website shortly after the game.
"It's great to be in the win column, three points at home with a great crowd, it was fantastic," Anhaeuser said in a Charleston Battery report. "We made it difficult though, letting them back in there with 10 guys. You have to give [Hartford] credit, but hanging on and getting three points, that's huge for us and you never know what can happen from here."

The win also wasn't an easy one for the Battery, thrice kicking into the back of the net, in addition to an own-goal by Hartford, all to score three of Charleston's four points.
Among the Battery's standouts was Nicque Daley, who registered his second brace of this season and scored in the game's minutes 10 and 43, according to the match recap and SofaScore.com's coverage of the game.
The Athletic's Thomas Janjigian scored an own goal in minute 2 and the Battery's Romario Piggott, who was an assist to Daley in Charleston's first goal, scored his own at about minute 45. The Battery's Danny Barrera picked up yellow cards at minutes 40 and 58, leaving Charleston to play a man down for more than a half hour.
Hartford's Juan Carlos Obregón and Kenan Hot tried for a rally but the clock ran out before they could press for an advantage.
Anhaeuser credited his team's early press to force Hartford's own goal, giving the Battery their early lead and, ultimately, their win and a step closer toward Charleston's playoff hopes.
"We were able to put pressure [on Hartford], we wanted to bring out the pressure right away," Anhaeuser said. "The guys got the pressure and forced [Hartford] to make that bad pass that started us off."
