Chad Holbrook, head coach of the College of Charleston baseball team, has confirmed that the program would return to a full 56-game season in 2022, according to a press release.
The schedule will include 33 games at Patriots Point and matches against five teams that advanced to the NCAA tournament in spring 2021.
Charleston's 2022 non-conference schedule also features rematches with several familiar opponents, as well as first-time matchups with numerous institutions, including a midweek match against national semifinalist Texas on Tuesday, March 15 at Patriots Point.
"We are thrilled about the upcoming schedule," Holbrook said. "It certainly has a national flair to it with a home series against a Super Regional participant in ECU and a visit from perennial national power Texas. It also includes always competitive regional matchups with Coastal Carolina and Clemson. When you combine some of our favorite regional rivalries with matchups against some of the powerhouses of college baseball, it certainly will make for an exciting spring at Patriots Point. Our players are fired up about the challenges ahead."
The Cougars will officially begin their 2022 season on Feb. 18 against Wagner in a three-game series.
The Cougars' schedule also includes midweek games against Penn on March 8-9, Presbyterian on April 5 and The Citadel on May 17, as well as their first-ever weekend series against Charleston Southern on May 13-15, which will include two games at The Point and one in North Charleston.
The Cougars will travel to seven non-conference midweek games, including Clemson on Feb. 22, Presbyterian on March 1, Georgia Southern on March 22, Charlotte on March 29, Coastal Carolina on April 6, The Citadel on April 12 and USC Upstate on April 19.
In addition, the Cougars will travel to High Point, North Carolina, for a weekend series on March 4-6.
The CAA schedule for 2022 will return to its traditional round-robin format, with the CAA Championship taking place at the Elon University campus in Elon, North Carolina, on May 25-29.
Tickets for the 2022 season will cost $120 and go on sale on Dec. 14 at 9 a.m.
