Mount Pleasant: Town Earns 33rd COA Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Mount Pleasant issued the following announcement on January 14.

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 12, 2022) – At the January 11 Town Council Meeting, Mayor Will Haynie and Mount Pleasant Town Council members were presented with the National Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award (COA). This is the 33rd consecutive year that the Town has received the designation.  

FACS Team 2022-2“This award represents the highest form of recognition in government,” said Mount Pleasant Chief Financial Officer Marcy Cotov presenting the award at the council meeting. “It reflects Mayor and Council’s commitment to the highest principles of financial reporting. Credit rating agencies and other interested parties also view the award as a positive factor in their decision making.”

“Our Annual Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program and its spirit of full disclosure,” said Finance Director Peggy Conkel. “Only 31 of the 270 cities in South Carolina can claim this achievement for 2020.” 

The Finance team secured the coveted Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award: Finance & Budgeting (Marcy Cotov, Tammy Harness and Paula Burke); Finance & Accounting (Peggy Conkel, Lisa Hancock, Max Mitchell, Stacy Willis, Tyler Clem, Ron Hughes, Karen Wells, Ebony McCormick); Finance & Procurement (Kathy Frame, Regina Handy, Jill Russ, Catherine Morrissey, Allison Ferrante); Finance & Payroll (Sue Messina, Sarah Brown.)
