The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce has announced that nominations for The Honors awards are officially open. According to the Chamber, these awards aim to recognize and celebrate companies, organizations, and individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the region. The winners will be honored at the upcoming awards ceremony presented by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in May.
As stated by the announcement, nominations for The Honors will close on Friday, March 15. Current Chamber members are eligible to submit nominations, while nominees must have been Chamber members for at least one year as of February 1, 2024. Multiple nominations are allowed for organizations and companies, with only one nomination required for consideration. A panel of previous award recipients will be responsible for selecting the final honorees.
The Honors award categories have been outlined, including Small Business of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Business of the Year, Diversity Champion of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, Community Impact Champion, and One to Watch. Each category recognizes excellence in different aspects of business and community involvement.
Reflecting on the previous year's winners, the 2023 recipients were announced as follows:
- Business of the Year: REV Federal Credit Union
- Small Business of the Year: J.H.W. Enterprises
- Innovator of the Year: Code/+/Trust
- Community Impact Champion: Metanoia
- Non-Profit of the Year: My Sister’s House
- Diversity Champion of the Year: We Are Sharing Hope SC
- One to Watch: Nikki Kuniej
In addition to these awards, the prestigious Joseph P. Riley Leadership award will also be presented at The Honors ceremony. This award recognizes an exceptional community volunteer who has shown outstanding leadership and dedication to community improvement over a lifetime. Notable past recipients of this award include Helen T. Hill, Jim Newsome, and Dr. David Cole.
To nominate a deserving organization or individual for The Honors awards, interested parties are encouraged to complete the nomination form before the deadline.
