Congresswoman Nancy Mace issued a statement regarding the resignation of US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The incident occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where security failures were cited as critical factors.

"It took a congressional subpoena, articles of impeachment, and a humiliating display of incompetence before the nation and the 118th Congress to get Kimberly Cheatle to resign," said Mace. "The security failures at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally nearly took the life of President Trump and caused the tragic death of an innocent victim. Cheatle's resignation is long overdue—she should have stepped down immediately after the attempt on former President Trump’s life."

Cheatle's resignation follows intense scrutiny and pressure from various political figures and entities within Congress.
