The North Charleston Police Department, alongside the North Charleston Fire Department, Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch, and the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), recently engaged in an active shooter training drill. The exercise aimed to evaluate the response capabilities of emergency services.

During the drill, MUSC employees maintained their regular duties while role players simulated patients. An active shooter scenario was enacted, leading MUSC staff to initiate emergency protocols and contact Consolidated Dispatch. This action prompted first responders to be alerted by Consolidated Dispatch.

Such full-scale drills are crucial for assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of police and fire department responses. "We thank MUSC for inviting us to participate in this valuable training exercise," stated a representative involved in the drill.
