Today, the House of Representatives passed the Laken Riley Act, a bill introduced by Representative Mike Collins from Georgia. The legislation aims to prevent violent criminals from entering the United States. Following the vote, Congresswoman Nancy Mace of South Carolina issued a statement criticizing members of the Democratic Party.

“Today’s vote proves once again the radical Left doesn’t care about protecting women—they care about protecting their woke agenda," said Rep. Mace. She accused 170 Democratic members of previously refusing to support the bill and attributed their stance to influence from President Joe Biden. "Last year, 170 members on the Left refused to support this bill, brushing off the brutal murder of Laken Riley because they were taking cues from Joe Biden, a man who apologized to Laken’s killer for calling him ‘illegal’ but couldn’t bring himself to apologize to her family for the tragic consequences of his failed policies."

The bill will now proceed to the Senate, which is controlled by Republicans. If approved there, it will be sent to President Trump for signing into law. Rep. Mace expressed confidence in President Trump's support: “Now, this bill heads to the Republican-controlled Senate, and if passed, heads to President Trump’s desk. We have no doubt President Trump will sign it into law, making it one of his first acts to clean up the mess Joe Biden and his Left-wing allies have created."

Rep. Mace concluded her statement by emphasizing that American citizens deserve leaders who prioritize their safety over political agendas: "The American people deserve leaders who will stand up for their safety—not cowards who bow to the poison of woke extremism.”
