Road closures planned for MLK Parade in Charleston

The 53rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is set to occur on Monday, January 20. The event will start with preparations near Burke High School at 6:00 a.m., leading to the early closure of Fishburne Street close to Hagood Avenue. The parade is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m., moving east on Fishburne Street, north on Ashley Avenue, east on Sumter Street, south on King Street, and east on Calhoun Street before concluding near Elizabeth Street.

The route is anticipated to reopen by noon. During the parade, vehicle access to several businesses and residences along the route will be restricted. Officers will be present throughout the area to help manage traffic flow and ensure neighborhood access.
