Annexation Petition Update & Planning Commission Workshop

Today, Town Council approved the first reading of the annexation petition made by Haulover Creek Development Company, LLC, (an affiliate of the Goodwin Family Holdings (owner of the Kiawah Island Golf Resort) and Riverstone Properties). This action does not ensure annexation but is required for the applicant to engage with the Town's Planning Commission.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 8, at 3 pm, the Planning Commission will hold a workshop on the planned development proposal. This workshop provides an opportunity for the Planning Commission to become familiar with the planned development application, engage in discussion with the applicant and hear community input. The Planning Commission will take no formal action tomorrow.

During the review process, the Planning Commission can influence standards, including land use, setbacks, lot sizes, density, bulk, other requirements, and possible studies to accommodate flexibility in the plan.

The public is encouraged to attend the workshop and provide comments during the citizen's comments portion of the agenda.

The public can also submit comments to the Planning Commission in advance through the Andell West Online Public Comment Portal.

The workshop will be live-streamed on the Town's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/c/TownofKiawahIsland

The agenda and meeting materials are available here.
