Officers Andrew Connolly and Matthew Macchia have been named the “Officers of the Month” for March 2024 for their heroic actions in arresting an armed suspect. The two officers responded to a call regarding a possible mental health episode on Remount Road and Rivers Ave. Upon arrival, the suspect brandished a firearm, prompting the officers to take cover and ensure the safety of civilians in the area.

"They gave the suspect clear and concise verbal commands to drop the weapon and lie down, which he promptly obeyed," said a statement from the authorities. The suspect was apprehended without incident, and upon further investigation, it was discovered that he possessed two firearms and around 200 rounds of ammunition.

The swift and decisive actions of Officers Connolly and Macchia prevented a potentially tragic outcome. "This situation could have ended tragically, but the swift actions of Officers Connolly and Macchia saved countless lives," the statement continued. The officers' bravery and dedication to protecting the community were commended, highlighting the risks they face daily in the line of duty.

Congratulations poured in for Officers Connolly and Macchia for their well-deserved recognition as “Officers of the Month” for March 2024.
