Nine officers have been recognized for their exemplary response to an incident in June. Lt. Victor Buskirk, M.P.O. Jessie Demalo, Pfc. Michael Vullo, Ptl. Salvatore Olivia, and Ptl. Jeremy Maurer were awarded Employee of the Month honors. Additionally, Sgt. Michael Lawrence, Cpl. James Fullwood, Ptl. Bre’Onna Searles, and Ptl. Tara Johnson received Certificates of Recognition.

The incident occurred on June 19 at the Trade Center where officers responded to a report of a man being attacked with a machete by another individual. Upon arrival, officers confronted the suspect who then brandished the machete from his backpack and refused to comply with orders to drop it. Officers successfully deployed a taser, causing the suspect to release the weapon and fall to the ground, allowing them to handcuff him.

Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect has since been charged with murder.
