The Charleston Police Department is urging drivers to exercise patience and prioritize safety on the roads during the holiday season. This appeal follows a series of road rage incidents, including a fatal shooting on Savannah Highway in October 2024. Since then, there have been four separate incidents involving firearms.

On December 16, Shawn Patrick Delacy, aged 41 from Charleston, was charged with pointing a firearm at a person during a road rage encounter on December 3 on Savannah Highway.

Jennifer Annette Baker Brown, aged 44 from Charleston, faced charges of assault and battery first degree for presenting a firearm during another road rage incident in a restaurant parking lot on Savannah Highway on December 14.

On December 10, officers responded to an incident where an individual allegedly pointed a firearm at someone during a road rage altercation on Interstate 526. This case remains under investigation.

Another incident occurred on November 30 when shots were reportedly fired into a vehicle during a road rage episode on Paul Cantrell Boulevard near Interstate 526. No injuries were reported, and this case is also still under investigation.

The police department emphasizes the importance of safety and calmness while driving this holiday season. "A moment of calm can prevent a lifetime of regret," they stated. Drivers are advised to avoid confrontations with aggressive drivers and call 911 if they feel unsafe. The community is encouraged to work together to ensure roadway safety for all.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is urged to contact the Charleston Police Department at 843-720-2422 or submit tips online at www.charleston-sc.gov/tips.
