Representative Nancy Mace has announced the passage of the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act in both the House and Senate. The act aims to address concerns about abuse in residential treatment facilities.

Rep. Mace emphasized the severity of the issue, stating, "Children in residential treatment facilities are subjected to sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, while facility operators profit from a $20 billion-a-year industry funded by taxpayers." She highlighted the collaborative effort involved in sponsoring the bill, noting its successful passage through both legislative chambers.

The representative stressed that protecting vulnerable children from abuse in taxpayer-funded facilities is a priority. "We are taking steps to ensure our vulnerable children are protected from abuse in taxpayer-funded facilities. This isn’t up for debate," she said.
