The Charleston Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying two individuals involved in the abandonment of a dog on the West Ashley Greenway.

On October 8, 2024, around 2 p.m., animal control officers responded to reports of a dog in distress on the Greenway. Upon arrival, they found a tan and black rottweiler tied to a tree without food or water. The dog had wounds on its face, neck, ears, and legs.

Surveillance footage captured two people tying the dog to the tree before walking toward Playground Road. The dog has since received treatment at the Charleston Animal Society and has been adopted.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Charleston Police Department at 843-720-2422 and request to speak with the on-duty Central Detective or via email at https://charlestonpd.fususvault.com/tips.
