Charleston police investigate fatal collision between pedestrian and Amtrak train

The Charleston Police Department is conducting an investigation into a fatal incident involving a pedestrian and an Amtrak train. The accident occurred on November 16, 2024, at 5:25 a.m. near Highway 61 and Bees Ferry Road.

Preliminary findings indicate that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the tracks when they were hit by the train. No passengers on the train reported injuries. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time. Vehicular traffic in the area remains unaffected.
