Rep. Nancy Mace, a U.S. Congress member representing South Carolina’s 1st district since 2021, has been vocal on social media regarding her stance on gender-affirming treatments and related experiments. On December 4, 2024, she posted a series of tweets expressing her views.

In one tweet, Rep. Mace stated: "They’re not hamsters either. This experiment has got to stop." This post suggests her disapproval of certain experiments or treatments that she believes are inappropriate.

Later the same day, she tweeted: "Defund gender affirming abuse." Accompanied by the hashtag #HoldTheLine, this message indicates her opposition to funding for gender-affirming practices that she considers abusive.

Further elaborating on her perspective, Rep. Mace shared statistics in another tweet: "Only 12-27% of children with gender dysphoria carry it into adulthood, yet irreversible therapies, hormones and surgeries are far too available in the US." Again using the hashtag #HoldTheLine, she raises concerns about the availability of irreversible medical interventions for minors experiencing gender dysphoria.
