Rep. Nancy Mace has cast her vote in favor of the fiscal year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), emphasizing its significance for servicemembers and their families, particularly those in South Carolina and the Lowcountry.
According to Rep. Mace, "The NDAA 2025 delivers big wins for South Carolina, including robust provisions to support our military families and secure critical defense priorities. This bill includes a well-deserved pay raise for our troops and expanded joint military exercises with Israel, strengthening our national security and global alliances." She also highlighted efforts to ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently by cutting wasteful spending.
Several projects benefiting the Lowcountry have been included in the final version of the NDAA. These include a $31.5 million authorization for constructing a Fuel Pier at MCAS Beaufort, a $72.05 million authorization for an Ambulatory Care Clinic at Parris Island, and an extension of a $122.6 million authorization to build an Aircraft Maintenance Hangar at MCAS Beaufort. Additionally, there is a $33 million authorization for an aeromedical evacuation facility at Joint Base Charleston and an extension of a $15 million authorization for a National Guard Readiness Center at Joint Base Charleston.
The legislation also provides a notable 14.5% pay raise for junior service members and aims to improve housing conditions for military families.
