Kiawah Island Parkway Construction Notice

Roadclosed

Work to mitigate flooding begins next week

Traffic Notice Flood Mitigation Work Begins Monday

On Monday, January 17, the Community Association will begin construction to raise 450 feet of the Kiawah Island Parkway at the intersection of Green Dolphin Way between the Sanctuary and the Vanderhorst Gate. The road currently holds water in a low spot during heavy rainfall, creating a potential hazard for traffic in a location where there is no possible detour.

This work will be conducted at night (Monday - Friday | 6 p.m. - 7 a.m.) to minimize traffic disruptions. Residents within close proximity might experience light and noise disturbances. The project is expected to take two weeks. During this time, one lane of Kiawah Island Parkway will be closed with flaggers onsite to direct traffic. Please use caution and expect brief delays in this area.
