Deadline to Apply for the Recreation Advisory Commission is June 24 at Noon

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (June 8, 2022) – Mayor Will Haynie and Mount Pleasant Town Council have authorized the formation of the Recreation Advisory Commission. The purpose of the volunteer commission is to assist and promote the recreational offerings of the Recreation Department. The advisory board will serve as a representative body of a wide range of recreational interests who will convey the recreational needs of the community to staff and Town Council.  

Twelve vacancies exist on the newly created board and will convene for a two-year term. To serve on this commission, applicants must be residents of the Town of Mount Pleasant and have demonstrated expertise in one of the areas listed below. Meetings will be held monthly, on a day and time determined by the commission members. Residents are welcome to apply on the Town website here. The deadline to apply is June 24 at noon.  One seat will be appointed for each of the following areas:  

  • Diamond Field Sports 
  • Rectangle Field Sports
  • Indoor Courts 
  • Aquatics Programs
  • Teen Programming
  • Visual and Performing Arts 
  • Therapeutic Recreation 
  • Tennis/Pickleball
  • Senior Programs 
  • Open Space/Trails/Bikeways
  • Parks/Playgrounds 
  • Community Events
