The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) has announced the appointment of Shelby Joffrion as its first-ever Opioid Prevention Coordinator. This new role, funded by the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Board, aims to enhance proactive education and communication efforts across various jurisdictions concerning opioid addiction.

"Please join NCPD in welcoming Shelby Joffrion, our agency’s first-ever Opioid Prevention Coordinator," read a statement from the department. Ms. Joffrion's responsibilities will include organizing educational events and fostering awareness about the dangers associated with opioid misuse.

August marks Overdose Awareness Month, which culminates in Overdose Awareness Day on August 31. In light of this, community members are encouraged to reach out to Ms. Joffrion for arranging Narcan distribution events or classes via her email at [email protected]
