North Charleston announces inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month celebration
The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department will present the city’s first Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 6-9 pm at the Park Circle Community Building located at 4800 Park Circle, North Charleston. The inaugural family-friendly event is presented in acknowledgment of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized from September 15 to October 15 each year. Admission and parking are free.

North Charleston offers $7,000 signing bonus for certified police officers
The City of North Charleston and the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) have announced a new incentive program to recruit certified law enforcement officers. Effective immediately, NCPD is offering a $7,000 signing bonus to any certified officer who joins the department. Additionally, current NCPD officers are eligible to receive a $7,000 bonus if they refer a certified officer who is subsequently hired by the department.

Officers confiscate 38 illegal guns in July and August
Patrol officers were busy during July and August, confiscating a total of 38 unlawfully possessed or illegally carried guns from the streets. Thirty-seven arrests were made.

The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department has announced concurrent solo exhibitions at Park Circle Gallery. The exhibitions will feature photo-based multimedia works by Kirsten Hoving and mixed media works by JD Clark, incorporating Polaroid photographs by Mahmood Fazal. These exhibits will be on display from September 4-28, 2024, with a free public reception on Friday, September 6, from 5:00-7:00 pm.
